Letters I would never send Ft. Midnights by Taylor Swift
1. Midnight Rain
To the heartbreak I chose
My blue-eyed boy that made the world seem so uncomplicated.
You are the dream come true of every girl wishing to the stars for a partner
that makes life easy, calm, and steady. You bring laughter to every room, smile
to every face and sunshine to the darkest days. I fell in love with you and the
life we could have together. But I am not the same anymore.
I want to live loudly, selfishly, recklessly. I want to fail
and crash and fly. I want a life where my only commitment is to myself, and
happiness is too small a dream to chase. I don’t want calm, I want passion. I
don’t want a happily ever after, I want madness every day. I don’t want comfort;
I want to chase the unknown.
It hurt to let you go, but I’d rather let you go today, than live a life looking at you with eyes full of unfulfilled dreams.
"He changed the same
All of me changed like Midnight"
Maroon
To the one who left my world colorless
I always told you that things that burn so bright, burn out,
leaving scars that will never heal. You were the flame that brought light to my
life, passion to my soul and madness to my existence.
From 6-hour phone calls, unpublished poems, unreleased
songs, secret getaways, drinking games to broken promises, unfulfilled dreams,
unclaimed memories and abandoned feelings, our story is destructively
beautiful. You’re my biggest mistake, which I yet can’t get myself to regret.
You filled my life with colors I didn’t know existed, but
you walked away with so much of me, leaving me colorblind and my world the
worst shade of grey.
And I lost you
The one I was dancin' with
In New York, no shoes
Looked up at the sky and it was maroon
3. Karma
To the one that confused my back
for a chopping board
I am unable to fathom how can you
call someone a friend and tie a stone on their neck when you see them drowning.
I was living in a distorted alternate reality, but I see it now. I finally see
through your empty promises and cold hugs, how you act so unaware of the blood
on your fingers. I didn’t lose a friend, I just realized that I never had one.
I’m okay though. I will be right
here. Bouncing back, finding my way, effortlessly making moves while you creep
on me silently, yet convinced that you are blameless. But no one can get away.
Cause karma is
my boyfriend
Karma is a god
Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend
Karma's a
relaxing thought
Aren't you envious that for you it's not?
Paris
To my sweet escape
Your mischievous eyes and easy-going ways have always
made me so prone to fall for you. You see parts of me that have carefully been
hidden away all my life, and you make me say things I would never utter from my
mouth. You are my best kept secret, tucked away in scrapbooks I open when the
world seems too dull.
Our history defeats any possible future I could have, but
you will always be around, won’t you? In our annual rendezvous where time
stops, noises become music and the most ordinary cities seem to twinkle like
Paris. Will we only ever exist in the fairytales in my mind?

Romance is not dead if you keep it just yours
Vigilante Shit
To his new flame
Your intentions were always so clear, with your nonchalant smile, long legs, and teenage breakdowns. I’m glad you finally have what you always wanted. But I hope you are prepared to babysit an unhappy, delusional, and toxic, 20 something man child. You can give him your heart, but can you give him a brain? I survived, although with a shaken sense of self-identify and baggage which took months to unburden.
Right now, I am glowing, falling in love, with myself, my life, and my city. I am walking into places, and I see the eyes on me. I walk around with my scar of survival, and it exudes confidence, which people are finding quite hot.
You would have liked it here. You’re a nice girl, with a tendency to make self-destructive decisions. We’d be great friends.
Ladies always
rise above
Ladies know what people want
Someone sweet and kind and fun
The lady simply had enough
Labyrinth
To my fresh breath of air
I thought I’d never recover from my heartbreak, that all love was lost, the butterflies were dead, and my blood had turned black. I skipped love songs and romance novels made me sick.
Until you walked in, collecting all the green flags as you swept me off my feet. I see how you see me, how your eyes wander to spot me, and your hands try to find mine. You breathed air into me while I choked, and you reminded me again that love is limitless. I’m melting, sweating, and slipping into your arms. What is one heartbreak in a world of 8 billion hearts?
I thought the
plane was going down
How'd you turn it right around
You’re on our own kid
This year has been unkind, you were broken and pushed to your knees, and people watched as you suffocated. The world you knew was collapsing in front of your eyes. The life you had designed so carefully was being snatched away from you. It would have been easier to disappear than to wake up every morning in a world you didn’t recognize.
But you did. You woke up, you persevered, you ran and danced and wrote and smiled. You let flowers bloom in the pits of your grief. You are a warrior, and your empathetic heart and resilient smile is a testament of the battles you have fought alone. You are going to make a life for yourself. You have been doing it all along.
You're on your
own, kid
Yeah, you can face this
You're on your own, kid
You always have been
